Andrew E. Savel, 94


Youngstown:  Funeral services will be held Friday, 12:00pm at the Wasko Funeral Home and 12:30pm in St. Elizabeth Church in Campbell for Andrew E. Savel, 94 who passed away Tuesday afternoon in the Hospice House.
Andrew was born Nov. 30, 1915 in Labell, Pa., the son of Martin and Anna Suhy Savel and came to the Youngstown area in 1917.
He was a 1934 graduate of Springfield Local High School and worked for U.S. Steel, Ohio Works, as a Crainman for 40 years, working 20 years in the Bessemer Dept. and 20 years in the Open Hearth Dept.
He was a member of the church and the Slovak Catholic Sokol.
Andrew loved to travel in his motor home across the United States, making numerous visits to national parks and relatives. He spent the winters in Florida gardening and feeding wild birds along with making creatures from sea shells.
His wife the former Emily Bartos whom he married on Jan. 25, 1941 passed away in March of 1992.
Andrew leaves to cherish his memory his sons and daughter-in-law Robert and Rosemarie of Max Meadows, Va., and Edward of Youngstown; one brother, Edward of Tucson, AZ.; three sisters, Dorothy (Edward) Gorski of Youngstown, Helen (Harry) Cipirano of Clarkdale, AZ, and Anna May of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Robert, Paul and Bridget; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Martin and Steve.
The Savel family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive friends Friday from 10am to 12noon.

You will be missed, Uncle Andy.  Will always remember you fondly and with love.  Won’t ever forget the way you walked down those beaches, scouring the sand for the perfect shell for those little creatures, or polishing one of your rare coins!!  God Bless.
