Campbell:  Funeral services will be held Thursday, 9:30am in the Wasko Funeral Home and 10am at St. John Church for Catherine T. (Kay) Shabella, 82 who passed away Sunday morning in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Catherine was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Gayan Vallus.
She was a 1945 graduate of Chaney High School and worked as a secretary for U.S. Steel.
She was a member of the church, the Infant Jesus of Prague, the Slovak Catholic Sokols, Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union, Campbell Senor Citizens, St. Joseph and St. Elizabeth Crocheting Circles, Navy Mothers Club and Park Vista Knitting Nannies.
Her husband Michael whom she married on Oct. 17, 1953 passed away on Feb. 13, 2000.         
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Michele (Hunter) Liggett of Coitsville and Joanne (Stan) Bundza of Canfield; one brother, Edward Vallus of Poland; two sisters, Ann Tumpak and Irene Fedoruk both of Youngstown; one aunt, Irene Papas and her friend Mary Bukofchan, who were as close as sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son John; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Thomas, Mrs. Marge Gallo and Mrs. Theresa Duffy; and two brothers Joseph Vallus and Robert Chmura
The Shabella family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Wednesday from 4-7pm.
