Emil Shevetz, 80

 

Youngstown:  Funeral services will be held 9:30am Thursday, at the Wasko Funeral Home and 10am in St. Elizabeth Church in Campbell for Emil Shevetz, 80 who passed away Sunday evening in the Hospice House.
Emil was born Nov. 7, 1929 in Struthers the son of Michael and Martha Murin Shevetz.
He served his country in the US Navy in the Korean War; he was a shipper/receiver for AG Sharp Lumber Co. in Girard for 35 years and retired in 1992.
He was a member of the church, the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild; VFW Post 3538; Struthers North Side Reunion Group; an avid golfer; and worked on the Struthers War Memorial.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife the former Eleanor Lesnak whom he married on Jan. 31, 1953; his daughters, Mary Catherine (Dennis) Patrick of Downingtown, Pa., Kathleen (Richard) Lewis of Struthers and Jeannette Gutierrez of Struthers; 4 grandchildren, Stephen (Danielle) Patrick of Raleigh, NC, Stephanie (Kevin) Baxter of Sandusky, Kathryn Patrick of Downingtown, Pa and Fidel Gutierrez, Jr. of Struthers; his best friend Larry Bryer of Austintown and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Michael, John, Joseph, Steve and Andy and a sister Mary Serroka.
The family wishes to thank St. Elizabeth Neuro Science Unit and the Hospice House.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made to the Hospice House in Emil’s name.
The Shevetz family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Wednesday from 4-7pm.
