Helen Graban, 79

Campbell:  Funeral services will be held 11am Monday in St. John Orthodox Church for Helen Graban, 79, who passed away Wednesday morning in Briarfield Manor.

Helen was born July 20, 1930 in Xenia, Ohio the daughter of Dr. J. Merle and Ruth Ramsey Rife.

She was a 1948 graduate of New Concord High School and went on to attend Cedarville College and graduated from Tarkio College with a degree in Education.  She began her elementary teaching career in College Springs Iowa, and an opening in Youngstown brought her here to teach at West Elementary School.  She then went on to teach in The Campbell School System.  Helen always enjoyed teaching the kindergarten children.

She was a member of the church, where she served on the church council; the FROC and the Sisterhood Club. 

She enjoyed cross stitching, making over 50 quilts; her favorite summer trips were to her grandfather’s farm in Cedarville and high school, college and family reunions.

Helen was a great, beautiful mother and leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Edward A. whom she married on September 9, 1961; one daughter, Mary Ruth Mico and her husband Joey whom she loved like an extra son, of Campbell; one son, Edward A. of Staten Island, NY; a brother J. Merle Rife of Indiana, Pa; a sister, Margaret of East Palestine, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Cecilia.

The Graban family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wakso Funeral Home and will receive friends Monday from 10:00-11am in Church.
