Helen M. Vogrin, 83
Yorktown, Virginia: Funeral services will be held 9:00am Saturday at the Wasko Funeral Home and 9:30am in Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church for Helen M. Vogrin 83, who passed away Christmas Day after a lengthy illness.
She was born January 26, 1926 in Youngstown the daughter of Blaze and Ivanka (Jenny) Jakupcin Petrin and lived in Youngstown and Canfield until 2004.
She was a life long member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a member of St. George Lodge 66; she worked as a volunteer for over 20 years at St. Anne’s Ukranian Church Bingo in Austintown.
Helen absolutely loved playing bingo and visiting the casinos in West Virginia and Atlantic City.
Her husband Michael C. Vogrin whom she married on May 28, 1949 passed away October 10, 2003.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Tom Vogrin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Julie (Jack) Haworth of Newport News, Va., and
Jim (Kim) Vogrin of Pinckney, MI.; grandchildren, Mark (Pam) Haworth of Wilmington, NC, Melissa (Mark) Edwards of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Kayla and Aaron Vogrin of Pickney, MI; great granddaughters Mackenzie and Abigail Edwards of NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brothers and sisters, Anna Asperger, Rose Tesyk, John Petrin, Joseph (Hoppy) Petrin, Mary Vukovich and Martin Petrin.
The Vogrin family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Friday from 2-5pm.
