John R. Davis, 74

Campbell:  Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday in St. John Orthodox Church for John R. Davis, 74 who passed away Sunday morning in Pembrook Nursing Home.

John was born June 21, 1935 in New Castle, Pa. the son on Earl V. and Gertrude Hamilton Davis.

He was a 1955 graduate of New Castle High School and attended Youngstown State University. John served his country in the US Marie Corps. in the Korean War.

He was a sales representative for the HJ Heinz Food Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1995, and was the vocalist for the Carmen Mico Band for 23 years.

He was a member of the church, the VFW in New Castle and Youngstown and the Musicians Local.

John leaves to cherish his memory his wife Martha, whom he married on July 14, 1962; a son John E. (Lisa) Davis of Canton; grandchildren, Aleena, Aleksandr, Nikolai and Stefan; sisters, Frances Davis of New Wilmington and Marge Higgins of Poland; 2 nieces, Kathy Conway of Poland and Danette Large of Boardman and 4 great-nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Katherine Wellman.

The Davis family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-8pm, with a 7:30 Parastas and on Friday from 10:30am to 11am in church.

Marty,

My daughters remember your husband singing to them with a microphone in our living room sitting on the sofa.  Even my daughter-in-law remembers him singing to her.

We had a lot of great times at the Holiday Inn in West Middlesex, where we played in a band there for 5 years.

I still have the recordings John and I made at the Peppermint Recording Studios in Youngstown, OH.

We will all miss him.  Hope to see you soon.  Please, let me know if you need anything.
