Mary Koulianos, 87

Campbell:  Mary J. Koulianos, 87, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 29, at Greenbriar Nursing Home in the company of family and dear friends. She was born on January 6, 1923, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Kaliope Tsounias Koulianos.
She was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and Youngstown State University.  An Elementary Teacher by profession, she retired from The Campbell City Schools where she taught many Greek immigrants the English Language, both in her elementary classroom, and through Adult Basic Education classes.
She loved her faith and served as an Honorary Member of the Parish Council of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church and their Ladies Philoptochos Society, serving on their Board as well as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She also was a member of the Kalymnian Prodromos Society and Methone Chapter #183 of The Daughters of Penelope. In her younger days, she worked faithfully as a volunteer in the gift shop at Northside Hospital.  Prior to becoming a school teacher she worked at General Electric and the Water Department in the City of Campbell.
Her pride and joy was her family, especially her niece and nephews and their children. She leaves her sister, Virginia (and Leo) Tsambarlis; her loving niece “Popi”, Kaliope (and Gregory) Keriotis of Beaver, PA; her nephews Stratos (and Colleen) Tsambarlis of Boardman and John (and Anna) Koulianos of Campbell. A brother, Anthony, is deceased. She leaves 10 great nieces and nephews, 23 godchildren, and a host of dear friends.
Mary loved Holy Week and the Easter season so it is only fitting that she will lay in state in her beloved church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31 where friends and family may pay their respects.  A Memorial Service to be conducted by The Daughters of Penelope will take place immediately before her 3:00 p.m. funeral service at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Campbell.  Burial will be at the parish cemetery on Struthers-Liberty Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to her church.  Arrangements are being handled by Wasko Funeral Home. May her memory be eternal.
The Koulianos family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home.

I shared many good times with Mary K….I am saddened by her passing.  I will remember the church festivals we worked, and all of the good times we shared.
