Boardman: Funeral services will be held 12:00pm Wednesday at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and 12:30pm in Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Roman Catholic Church in Youngstown for Veronica A. Frketich, 92 who passed away peacefully on Sat. Feb. 20 surrounded by her loving family.
Veronica was born May 11, 1917 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of John and Catherine Fabiny Blazo.
Veronica lived most of her life in Youngstown. She and her husband were members of Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Roman Catholic Church.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening most of her life; she was affectionately known as the Flower Lady on Youngstown’s East Side.
Veronica worked most of her life in retail, retiring from Strouss Herschberg’s Department Store in 1983.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (Tony) Diss of Boardman, with whom she made her home; grandaughters, Angela Leschinsky of Avon Lake and Christine Leschinsky of Boardman; a sister Cecilia (William) Hegedusich of Youngstown; many loving nieces and nephews and other caring friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Carl Frketich; a daughter Catherine Leschinsky and 4 brothers, Albert, John, Steve and Ed Blazo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local American Heart Association or to her church in her name.
The Frketich family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Wednesday from 10am-12noon.

Aunt Vern has left us with alot of great memories. She is now in heaven with our Lord, Uncle Carl and Cathy, and one day we all will be together again. Charlotte and Tony rest assure she is looking down at the both of you with a heartful of gratitude during her last eight years of her life, I wish I could be up there for you all. My prayers and thoughts are with you all!!
