Victor G. Vrabel, 58

Campbell: Funeral services will be held 10:30am Saturday at the Wasko Funeral Home and 11am in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, with Father David Shortt officiating, for Victor “Mr. Vic” G. Vrabel, 58,  beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who passed away on Dec. 9 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Victor was born May 4, 1951 in Youngstown, the son of Victor and Theresa Wroblewski Vrabel and was a life long area resident.
He attended Byzantine Catholic Central School and graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1969.  He continued his education at Key Punch Institute and then obtained his Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems from ITT Tech.
Victor was known as “Mr. Vic” by his fellow employees and all the students at Byzantine Catholic Central School where he was employed since 1985.  He was also employed at Sutton’s Limo Service since 1992 and the Transit Bus Company since 2000.  Victor also worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co., LTV Steel, J & L Steel Company and the Steel Door Company in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
He was a member of the church, the Polish National Alliance Lodge #3001, Greek Catholic Union, Campbell Gridiron Club, and the Campbell Middle School PTO.
Victor enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, planning family get togethers, watching the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, traveling, woodworking, making treats for Diana’s students, and listening to polka music.  Aside from being known as a hard worker, his altruistic personality and constant smile is what he will be remembered for and is what will be greatly missed.
Victor is survived by the love of his life, the former Diana Filak, whom he married on June 3, 1972; his daughter Kristine (Hani); his son Victor (Heather); the absolute joy of his life, his granddaughter Karrena; a brother Walter (Rita) and his sister Sharon.  He will also be remembered by a host of cousins and by all his friends.  He will also be sadly missed by his “couch buddy” Nakita the dog.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that monetary donations be made to help defray the cost of the funeral.
The Vrabel family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Friday from 5-8pm, where a prayer service will be conducted at 5pm.
