Youngstown…Luis A. Maldonado Jr., age 69, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.

Luis was born August 4, 1954, in Youngstown, the son of Luis A. and Aurea (Martinez) Maldonado.  He was a lifelong area resident, except for when he lived in Arecibo, Puerto Rico for six years.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator, and later went on to work as a security guard.

Luis was a U.S. Marine Corps. Reservist.

He was of the Catholic Faith.

Luis was a member of Los Hijos de Borinquen Club.  In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and going to car shows.

Luis will be deeply missed and always remembered by his mother Aurea Martinez; his four daughters, Melody Maldonado, Rhaleika Maldonado, Zohrayah Maldonado, and Azafirah Maldonado; grandchildren, Owen Brockett, Trent Brockett, and Zafi Maldonado; siblings, Albert, Henry, Anthony, Eileen, and John Maldonado; and 12 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Edwin Maldonado.

The Maldonado Family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday March 22, 2024 from 5:30-6:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Robert England and Luis’ brother-in-law, Pastor Luis Mercado. 

Luis will be laid to rest at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Youngstown.
