Michael Paul Rich, 79

CANFIELD… Michael Paul “Mike” Rich, age 79, formerly of Campbell, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 14, 2024 at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida.

Mike was born on January 25, 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was a son of Michael J. and Antoinette (Mediate) Rich.

He was a 1962 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.  Mike went on to graduate from Youngstown State University in 1966 and was a member of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. While teaching at East High School in Youngstown, Mike furthered his education at the University of Akron, School of Law where he earned his degree of Juris Doctor in 1970.

Mike was the longtime Law Director for the City of Campbell and an Assistant Mahoning County Prosecutor.  After retirement Mike worked for the family title company in Ft. Myers, Florida.

He was a lifetime parishioner of the former St. Lucy Catholic Church and the Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in Campbell.

Mike was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He also enjoyed trips to the casino and spending his winters with his wife in Fort Myers, Florida. Above all Mike cherished the time he spent with his family, never missing a baseball game for his sons and especially watching his grandchildren’s games and dance recitals.  

Mike is survived by his loving wife the former Dolores “Dolly” Valerio, whom he married on June 25, 1966 in St. Lucy Church. He also leaves his two sons Atty.  Michael J. Rich of Cape Coral, Florida and Mark (Erin) Rich of Cortland.  He leaves his grandchildren; Antonia Rich, Adrienne Rich and Preston Rich. Mike is also survived by his brother Dr. Frank (Dee) Rich and his sister Cindy (Dr. Larry) D’Amico. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and God children and his great-great nieces and great-great nephews who all adored him and welcomed his fatherly advice, guidance and wisdom.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends may call on Friday April 26, 2024 from 9:15-10:45 am in Christ the Good Shepherd Parish 159 Reed Avenue Campbell, Ohio 44405. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Church at 11am with Rev. Matthew Zwilling officiating.

The Rich family has entrusted Mike’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell.
