Campbell…Prayers will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Catholic Church officiated by Father Michael Swierz for Antonio Verrocchi, 81, who passed away Wednesday afternoon at the Cleveland Clinic.
Antonio was born March 3, 1932, in Sulmona, L’Aquila, Italy, the son of Domiano and Filomena Imperatore Verrocchi.
Before coming to the Campbell area in October of 1963, Antonio served in the Italian Army from 1959 until 1962. He worked as a steelworker when he came to the area.
Antonio was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Catholic Church and the St. Anthony Men’s Society.
He was an avid gardener and he enjoyed making wine and homemade Italian meats. Antonio was very proud of his Italian heritage and loved teaching his children and grandchildren the Italian culture.
Antonio leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, the former Loreta Mangiarelli, whom he married November 23, 1963; a son, Anthony Verrocchi of Cincinnati ; his daughters, Linda (Joseph) Reinthaler of Canfield, Anna Liptak of Boardman and Luciana (Timothy) Myers of Mineral Ridge; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Domenic Reinthaler, Daniel and Jennifer Liptak, and Aaron Myers; his three brothers, Salvatore, Mario and Armando Verrocchi; and two sisters, Iole Verrocchi and Anna Ciancarelli all of Sulmona, Italy.
The Verrocchi family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Sunday from 4-7:00 p.m.
