Anna M. Benedict, 87
HUBBARD – Private family services were held Tuesday at the chapel of St. John Catholic Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Swierz officiating, for Anna M. Benedict, 87, who passed away Friday morning with her family by her side.
Anna was born May 19, 1930, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Karoline Scavino Datko.
She was 1948 graduate of Ursuline High School and spent most of her life in Youngstown, except for 20 years of her life, when she lived in Las Vegas and worked as a showroom server. Anna was very proud of the many meals she served to celebrities, which included Elvis Presley.
She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Hubbard.
Anna was a member of the Red Hats Society.
Above all, Anna will always be remembered as a person who opened her door and home to anyone in need.
Her husband, John Benedict, whom she married Aug. 22, 1948, passed away April 16, 1990.
Anna will be deeply missed by her children, Frank Benedict of Youngstown, John (Linda) Benedict, Debbie (Scott) King, and Shelley Simpson, all of Pahrump, Nev., and Lorie (Mike) Barajas of Denver.
Besides her parents and her husband, John, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Datko and John Datko, who died in WWII; and her sister, Helen Humphries.
