Anne (Ana) Marantis Obituary

Anne (Ana) F. Marantis, 77

Poland…Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m.  Monday at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Campbell, for Anne (Ana) F. Marantis, 77, who passed away Tuesday evening, November 13, 2018 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

Ana was born Jan. 10, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Michael and Angeline (Pikos) Frazis.

She graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1958.  Ana attended YSU for a short time before working for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Youngstown, Ohio.

Ana was always the life of the party and was welcoming to everyone.  Her house was always filled with her children’s friends and with family.  She was an amazing cook and baker.  Although Greek cooking was her specialty she was known for her Goulash, cinnamon and sugar dipped koulouria and her cream cheese brownies.  She was a true stay-at-home mom with a household that was spotless and a dinner table that was always overflowing. The cooking channel was always on in her home and she enjoyed trying different recipes.

She loved listening to Andre Bocelli and Barbara Streisand.   She loved watching movies and usually DVR’d more shows than she had time to watch.

Ana was a member of the PTA and served her Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Philoptichos Society as treasurer for years.

She loved the holidays, especially Christmas.  She would decorate every room and make sure every family member had matching Christmas pajamas.  After the passing of her loving husband, George she dedicated her time between her four children.

Ana always had a smile and great advice for anyone who asked.  She lived life believing her cup was half full and enjoyed every day given to her.  Even through her illness she did not complain and battled cancer with everything she had to stay with her family.  She was a loving wife, an amazing mother and yiayia and a friend to all.  She will greatly be missed.

Ana leaves to cherish her memory four children, her sons; Michael (Jackie) Marantis of Poland, OH and Dean (Kim) Marantis of Poland, OH; along with two daughters, Angelique (John) Avdellas of Beaver, PA and Alexis (Mathew) McAleer of Poland, OH; 12 grandchildren, Georgie, Peter, Ana and Eleni Avdellas, Christian and Mia Marantis, Giana, Nikolas and Alexander McAleer and George, Adriana and Zachary Marantis ; three sisters, Christine (Tom) Patrick of Aurora, OH, Maria (Ted) Lambrinos of Campbell, OH., Nancy (Joe) Zetts of Campbell, OH, along with many nieces, nephews, god children and cousins.

Ana was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, George whom she married, Oct. 4, 1964, her younger sister of 10 months, Katie (John) Balale of Campbell, OH. And her loving parents.

The Marantis family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends from 3-6 pm on Sunday at the funeral home and on Monday from 9-10 at the Church.
