Charles R. "Cappy" Bolchalk

YOUNGSTOWN –A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church, celebrated by Father John Jerek, for Charles R. “Cappy” Bolchalk, 89, who passed Monday, August 6, 2018.

Charles was born October 20, 1928, in Hubbard, a son of Charles and Anna (Slifko) Bolchalk.

He graduated in 1946 from Hubbard High School. He worked as a railroad brakeman and retired from Sheet & Tube/LTV Steel.

Charles married his wife, Florence “Flo” (Fetsko) on February 11, 1950. Together they raised two children. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows at St. Matthias Church where he was active with the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild and the Sacred Heart Rosary Society. Cappy was an avid baseball fan, he played fast pitch softball on various leagues. He enjoyed all of the Cleveland sports teams and liked handicapping horses. But his greatest love was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always entertaining them with card and magic tricks.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife Flo, children James (Diane) Bolchalk of Boardman, and Martha (Steven) Gottlieb of Ponce Inlet, FL; grandchildren Jefferey (Rebecca) Bolchalk, Elissa (Eric) Alexander and Jason (Ana) Bolchalk; great-grandchildren Quinn, Andrew, Genevieve, Logan, Jackson, Hunter, Karston and Jillian; his brother Albert (Susan) of Masury and his sister Rozanne Tennyson of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Edward, Frederick, and Donald and two half-brothers.

Cappy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at MVI Hospice for their care of Charles during his time of need. 

The Bolchalk family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to either Our Lady of Sorrows Church or to MVI Hospice.  

The family has entrusted Charles’ care to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, 5925 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512. The family will receive friends from 9:00am-10:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows at St. Matthias Church on Saturday morning prior to the funeral mass.
