Hilda Nerina Carano, 94
POLAND – Hilda Nerina Carano, 94, passed away peacefully on Aug. 26, 2018, at Sunrise Senior Living of Poland, surrounded by many loving friends and support.
Hilda was born Aug. 21, 1924, to her late parents Vincenzo and Nerina (Stizza) Carano in Campbell.
She attended Campbell Memorial High School and continued on to graduate from Kent University as a Speech and Hearing Therapist in the Campbell school system, where she helped many children overcome their challenges.
As one of the original members of St. Lucy Church, Hilda was an active member in many organizations including the Infant Guild, the Altar and Rosary Society, Thursday Kitchen, the Environment of Liturgy Committee and the Youth Ministry, she was also an active member in the Carovillesi Ladies Auxiliary and the Cousins Club.
Hilda is survived by her loving goddaughter, whom has cared for her over the years, Mary Eleanor (Stephen) Pennline; her nephew, Allen Mele; great-nephew Chris Dotson; and cousins Robert Carano and Grace (Louie) DiPio; as well as many more family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Carano; sister Anita Mele; brother-in-law Phil Mele; and niece Maria Dotson.
Throughout Hilda’s life she loved traveling the world while overcoming adversity and challenges to always be a positive leader to others through her selfless acts. Her loved ones will fondly remember Hilda as a selfless woman, always offering a helping hand, words of wisdom, and always with a big smile on her face. The legacy she leaves behind is priceless and will live on for a lifetime.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Senior Living for their exceptional care and compassion given to Hilda over the years.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at 10 a.m., with an 11 a.m. service at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Lucy Church. A private burial will follow.
