Joseph Pacak, 96
Coitsville Township…Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, for Joseph Pacak, 96, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at the Hospice House, while surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born January 25, 1922, in Zagreb, Croatia, the son of the late John and Mary (Horvat) Pacak.
Joe was a 1940 graduate of Chaney High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and worked for over 30 years as a crane man for Sharon Steel, retiring in 1982.
He was very proud of his Croatian heritage, having visited relatives several times in Croatia. He enjoyed reading, playing his violin, lamb roasts, and especially loved listening to his bluegrass music and working the local newspaper crossword puzzle every morning.
Joe was a man who truly enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved being surrounded and spending time with his family and friends. Joe never refused help to anyone who asked.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Joseph (Kristin) Pacak and his beloved sister, Maryann Nelson. Joe also leaves his nephew John (Roseann) Grahovac, Sr., who he helped raise; grandnephews and nieces John (Alyssa) Grahovac Jr. and Melissa (Emmanuel) Katsaros; his very dearest of friends, Drs. Cuddapah and Khanna, the Juratovic family; and close relatives from Zagreb, Croatia, Ivan Vidisman, Jura Sinkovic and Lilly Chesmiza.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Hospice of the Valley for all of their compassionate care and attention that was shown to them.
The Pacak family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Monday morning from 9:30-11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St, Boardman, OH 44512.
