Stephen R. Hudak, 90

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services for Stephen R. Hudak, 90, will be held on the morning of January 2 at 9:00 a.m. at the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Christine Catholic Church, with Father Coulter officiating. Steve passed away on December 23, 2017 at 10:50 p.m.

Steve was born January 13, 1927 in Youngstown.  He was the youngest son of the late Mathew (Matej Dunajsky) Hudak and Mary (Sich) Hudak.  He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.

Steve married Margaret Liktar, the love of his life, on May 8, 1948.    They were members of St. Christine Catholic Church for more than 65 years. Anyone who knew him knew that he and Margie were most proud of their five children: Margie (Joe) Graf, Kathy (Bruce) Howell, Mary (Jim) Centofante, Steve (Joan) Hudak and John Hudak.  Steve and Margie have 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

For more than 40 years, he was the proud owner and operator of Steve Hudak’s Amoco on Mahoning Avenue in Austintown. Steve was an avid golfer, and in his earlier years an accomplished bowler.  He served in the Navy (Radioman 3rd Class) from both WWII and the Korean War.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and her sisters Caroline Liktar Timmins and Maryann Liktar Tkach; and his siblings Joseph Rohovsky, Rose Martinko, Veronica Hellen, Albert and John Schuley, Mary Socash, Victor Hudak, and Sophie Neher.

The Hudak family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Kubina Yuhasz Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Tuesday morning from 8-9:00 a.m. at the funeral home (5925 Market Street in Boardman).
