YOUNGSTOWN – A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Kubina Yuhasz Wasko Funeral Home for Steve Garasky, 91, who passed away peacefully on April 20, 2018.
Steve was born August 22, 1926 in Youngstown, a son of the late John and Catherine Garasky. He was a graduate of East High School, and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he was a rifleman in the Philippines.
He was a member of St. Dominic Parish, where he was active in the Cub Scout program and a devout Catholic. He was a member of the Eveready Club with his wife.
Steve worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years, and was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He participated in a bowling and softball leagues, and was an amateur boxer from his time in the service. He was a diehard Notre Dame and Cleveland Browns fan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Jerry (Linda) of Boardman, Tom (Mary Beth) of Kirkwood, Missouri, and Steve (Michelle) of Grand Prairie, Texas, his grandchildren, Katharine, Christina, Martha, Eric, and Kimberly, and his sister, Irene Bosko of Youngstown.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha M. Garasky, whom he married May 13, 1950 and who passed away November 22, 2012, his brothers, John, Joseph, and Daniel Garasky, and his sisters, Katherine Smith, Ann Ramunno, Helen Burns, and Mary Tsvetanoff.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered at Calvary cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to either St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44507 or to the Cardinal Mooney High School, 2545 Erie Street, Youngstown, OH 44507 in Steve’s memory.
