December 30, 1960 ~ November 18, 2017 (age 56) 56 Years Old

William J. Newton Jr., (Bill), 56

Chicago…….Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Presbyterian Church (1951 Mathews Rd at Sheridan Rd., Poland, 44514), with Pastor Kristin Stroble officiating, for William J. Newton Jr., (Bill), 56, of Chicago, IL, who went to be with the Lord on November 18th, 2017 as a result of complications from surgery.

He was born December 30, 1960 in Youngstown, and was a 1978 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.

Bill began his work career at Stoneybrook Mobile Home Park, where he enjoyed his daily lunches with his paternal grandparents.  In 1981, he moved to Chicago to work at Omni in the maintenance department.  Bill left Omni to work at Pinnacle as an electrician where he was a proud member of Union Local #134.

Bill had many passions.  He took photography classes and enjoyed taking pictures of nature.  He loved fishing and boating and spending time at his trailer with family, friends and his dogs.  Bill was constantly trying new recipes out on the family.  Bill loved classic rock and old hot rods. Above all, Bill’s greatest love was his family.  He considered his grandchildren his greatest accomplishments and joy.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents and several uncles and aunts.  Bill is survived by his parents William and Barbara Newton; his wife Karen Ward; his children Holly (Brian) Van Hoosier, Bradley (Stella) Elliston, Ronald (Sylvia) Elliston and Kimberly Stanley; his sisters, Deborah (William) Jupp, Jean Ann Marie (William) Shannon; his grandchildren Hannah, Michael, Bradley, Elise, Ryan and a grandson on the way.  Bill was also loved by countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill was a gentle soul.  The family was consoled by many of his friends during his hospital stay.  The common adjectives were “Kind, Giving and Selfless”.

Funeral arrangements were handled in Chicago by the Christian Funeral Home.

Locally, the Newton family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Saturday morning from 9-10:00 a.m. a.m. at the Heritage Presbyterian Church, prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service.
