Obituary

Alido Rivera, Sr., 76

CAMPBELL…Alido Rivera Sr., 76 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

Alido was born March 23, 1950 in Salinas, Puerto Rico, a son of Jose and Virginia (Santiago) Rivera.

Alido was a 1968 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, where he was a proud and dedicated track athlete. Alido married the love of his life the former Marie DiGiacomo in 1998 and they shared 28 years of marriage, but spent over 39 years together.

Alido was a hard working man. He worked as a truck driver for Newman Seafood and Acme Steak. He owned and operated Alido’s Tavern for many years where he was well known, and he finished his career at Hillcrest Trucking, retiring in the early 2000’s.

Alido’s heart belonged to the rhythm of Spanish music, and he took every chance he could to dance to it. He was also a true fan of timeless music. He really enjoyed listening to oldies on the record player his beloved bother gifted him. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially having a beer in the garage or playing a card game with the guys. He loved being the best Papa to his grandkids and he always looked forward to watching Ohio State football.

Alido will be deeply missed and always remembered by his wife, Marie Rivera of Campbell; his children, Emma Rivera of Campbell, Alido Rivera, Jr. of Tennessee, Manny (Elizabeth) Rivera of Tennessee, Benjamin (Mylissa) Rivera of Campbell, Crystal (Robert) Ruscoe of Struthers and Alison Rivera also of Struthers; 17 grandchildren; two brothers, Asdrubul (Maria Lou) Rivera and Jose (Maryann) Rivera.

Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Juan Santiago; three sisters, Francisca Torres, Daisy Lopez, Alba Coira and a brother, Samuel Rivera.

The Rivera family has entrusted Alido’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, Ohio where calling hours will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 11am-12noon followed by a funeral service at noon.

Alido will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville, Ohio.
