Macdonald Kmetz
Apr 2, 1927 — Sep 12, 2017
Audrey B. Kmetz, 90
Campbell…A Divine Liturgy will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, with Rev. Kevin Marks officiating and Rev. Gerald DeLucia serving as con-celebrant, for Audrey B. Kmetz, 90, who passed away Tuesday morning.
Audrey was born April 2, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter of Harry and Olive Pantall MacDonald.
She was a lifelong area resident of Campbell.
Audrey was a woman ahead of her time, working as a professional in downtown Youngstown when it was a bustling shopping area. She was employed for many years at McKelvey's Department Store in the luggage department, and then worked as the manager of the china department, when Higbee's took over. She had a great sense of style, and loved being dressed up every day, working downtown.
Audrey was a parishioner of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church and was deeply dedicated to her faith. She was active in the Ladies' Guild and worked as the manager of the church kitchen, catering parish events.
She loved the holidays and above all, she enjoyed hosting her family for dinner on all the holidays, especially Holy Saturday.
Her husband, John Kmetz, whom she married July 21, 1945, passed away March 13, 2001.
Audrey will always be remembered as a simple, honest and sincere person who had a way with words. She will be deeply missed by her children, Dr. John Kmetz of Campbell and daughter, Christine Hylton of Poland; her two daughters-in-law, Rose Kmetz of Lowellville, and Deborah Kmetz of Poland; her eight grandchildren, William Hanak, Keith Hanak, Kimberlee Kmetz, Kenneth Kmetz, Shelly Hanak, Kristi Kmetz-Archer, Melissa Kmetz and Kristin Kmetz; eleven great-grandchildren; and her nephew, Kim Miller.
Besides her parents; and her husband, John Kmetz; she was preceded in death by her sons, Kenneth and Michael Kmetz; her brother, Harry; and her sisters, Helen and Kathryn.
The Kmetz family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Friday from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Church, prior to the 11:00 a.m. service.
