STRUTHERS…Bonnie Lou Churilla, age 74 of Struthers, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 20, 2024 following an unexpected illness.
Born on January 20, 1950 in New Castle, PA, Bonnie was the beloved daughter of Paul and Janice (Measel) Sander. She married Samuel Churilla, the love of her life, on March 21, 1998, and they were rarely seen apart thereafter.
Before retiring, Bonnie dedicated herself to her work in the deli at IGA in Struthers and was actively involved in the VFW 3538 Women's Auxiliary.
Bonnie cherished moments spent with her mother, her husband Samuel, her children, and all her grandchildren. Known for her immense heart and readiness to help others, Bonnie will be deeply missed and forever remembered for all the joy, love and light she brought to this world.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Samuel; her daughter, Sherri Lynn (Gregg) Mattace Horvat of Canfield; her son, Salvatore (Brittney) Mattace of Grayson, Georgia; her brother Terry (Barb) Sander of New Bedford, PA; grandchildren, Nicco (Allie McIntosh) Mattace, Gino Mattace, Jackson (Taylor) Horvat, Nicolena Horvat, and Elliana Horvat; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Halina Churilla of Poland; nephew Stephen; her German Shepherd, Shasha; and her many friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Gianna Horvat; her sister, Connie Del Signore; and her brother, Larry Sander.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hospice House of Poland and Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate care during Bonnie's final days.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Wasko Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday June 27, 2024 from 4-6pm. A Celebration of Bonnie's life will follow at 6pm.
