Estela Canuto Rodrigues, 88

Campbell…Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Angela Merici Parish (formerly Sacred Heart), with Rev. Kevin Peters officiating, for Estela C. Rodrigues, 88, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018.

Estela (Mia) was born December 20, 1929, in Fogo of the Cape Verde Islands, and was the daughter of Pedro and Maria Canuto. She was a 70 year resident of Campbell, Ohio where she was a parishioner of the Former Sacred Heart Church and resided with her family.

Estela worked at the Park Vista Nursing Home in Youngstown as a Nurses' Aid for many years. She was also a seamstress, and spent most of her time caring for her husband, Vasco, and their six children.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her grandchildren. She loved music and dance, hosting parties, traveling, and sharing stories. She was a generous and kind woman, who opened her heart to all who knew her.

Estela's husband, Vasco Rodrigues; whom she married June 23, 1952; passed away, April 2, 2015.

She is survived by her children, Nelson Rodrigues of Campbell, Vasco Rodrigues, Jr. of Columbus, Antonio Rodrigues (Karen) of Florida, Gina Gibson (Jim) of Akron, and Jorge Rodrigues of Akron; Her eight Grandchildren, Rachelle Cheatwood, Lena Andrade, Rick Rodrigues, John Andrade, A.J. Rodrigues, Angelique Gibson, Courtney Rodrigues, Ashley Gibson and her nine Great-Grandchildren. She also leaves her sister Alina Canuto.

Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Vasco, and her daughter, Maria Andrade.

The Rodrigues family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, from 5-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
