John J. Porubensky, 82

YOUNGSTOWN… John J. Porubensky, age 82 passed away peacefully on Sunday September 13, 2026 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.

John was born March 18, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio and was a son of John and Ann (Samplak) Porubensky and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1962 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and attended St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.

He had worked as a scrap burner at WCI for 42 years.

In his spare time John enjoyed working on cars.

John is survived by his nephews Matthew Seals and James Seals. He also leaves two great nephews Mark Seals and Nick Seals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ann, his sisters Rose Seals, Dolores McKinney, Mary Ann Porubensky and his brother Michael Porubensky.

Calling hours will be held on Friday September 18, 2026 from 9:30-10:30am at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell. A prayer service will take place at 10:30am at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral of Divine Liturgy at 11am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown.

John will be laid to rest at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
