Zuzik
Jul 15, 1925 — Jan 3, 2018
Paul P. Zuzik, C.P.A., 92
Campbell…Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Swierz officiating, for Paul P. Zuzik, C.P.A., 92, who passed away Wednesday evening.
Paul was born in Czechoslovakia and immigrated here with his parents at a young age. After graduating as valedictorian of the Campbell High School class of 1943, he entered Naval Officer Training at Baldwin Wallace College and he later finished schooling at Harvard University. Paul served as a Naval intelligence officer in World War 2, working as a decoder in Pearl Harbor. He always pointed out that he started two years after the attack.
After the war, he graduated with honors from the former Youngstown College with a degree in accounting. He had several professional accomplishments including being the first Tax Commissioner of the City of Campbell and later being appointed by then Ohio Governor Taft to the Campbell Fiscal Emergency Board. Paul retired as a Senior Examiner for the State of Ohio Auditor's Office after receiving many commendations.
Last fourth of July, he was honored as being a VFW member for 65 years.
Paul was a CPA and always had a second job doing accounting for small businesses, a couple of which he did for almost fifty years. He did tax preparations until his late eighties often without a charge.
Paul was an avid bowler and golfer, and played golf into his late eighties. One of his passions was putting on the family golf outing every July and presenting the winner a trophy. Paul was the ultimate family man, never missing an event.
Paul was a devout Catholic and was deeply involved with St. John the Baptist Church, serving as its unpaid accountant and financial adviser for many years. Paul served countless masses and funerals as an altar boy for over 61 years.
Paul was married to his wife Helen for over 64 years and together they raised 5 boys: Kenneth (Jeanne] of Canfield, Lawrence of Cleveland, Paul [Charlene] of Hubbard, Richard [Mary] of Bowling Green, and John [Cheryl] of Massillon. He also had 9 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
In memory of Paul, do as he did, always be kind.
