Campbell...A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church for Stanley Geewax, 88, who passed away peacefully after a brief illness. He died Friday evening at Grande Village Manor in Twinsburg, surrounded by his loved ones.
Stanley was born Feb. 3, 1922 in Campbell the son of Frank and Eva Malys Grzywacz and was a life-long resident of Campbell. He was a 1940 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and attended Youngstown College to learn drafting. He worked as a draftsman for Store Engineering Co. in Youngstown for nearly four decades.
Stanley served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII with the 49th Air Depot Group in Australia and the Philippines. On June 28, 1952 he married the former Vilma Vass and they built their home in Campbell where they raised their three children.
Stanley was a member of St. Elizabeth Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Vilma of Twinsburg; two sons, Ronald (Sara) of Twinsburg and Darryl of Newbury Park, Ca.; a daughter Marilyn Geewax of Chevy Chase, MD and a sister Helen "Sherry" Heldman of Boca Raton, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John, Joseph, Julius and Andy and a sister Frances LaTorre.
The family wishes that any monetary donations be made to Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Suite E., Uniontown, OH 44685, in Stanley's name.
The Geewax family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Saturday morning from 10: 00 a.m. until the time of the service at St. Elizabeth Church.
