STEPHEN W. SOLTIS, 95

CAMPBELL… Stephen W. Soltis, 95, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, October 5, 2026 at Hospice House in Poland, Ohio.

Stephen was born on February 1, 1931 in Campbell, Ohio, a son of Stefan and Anna (Kostelnik) Soltis.

He was a 1949 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and later attended Youngstown State University, remaining a lifelong Campbell resident.

Stephen married the love of his life, Janet Stanfar, on July 14, 1951 and shared 71 wonderful years of marriage until her passing on May 31, 2023.

He served in the 7th Cavalry Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his return home, Stephen worked as a steel worker for Youngstown Sheet and Tube Campbell Works and later for the City of Campbell in utilities.

Stephen was an avid reader, fisherman and especially loved gardening. He prided himself on his Heirloom tomatoes and Bonsai trees for which he became an award-winning Bonsai Master. He was a member of the Youngstown Men’s Garden Club and the Jubilee Community Garden. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Stephen will be deeply missed and always remembered by his children, Suzanne (John) Pugh of Sunbury, OH, Stephan (Mary) Soltis of Campbell, OH, Janet (Eric) Courtland of Winnabow, NC, Patricia (Robert) Prochak of Campbell, OH, and Juliana (Jeffrey) Lancy of Struthers, OH; grandchildren Samantha, Stephanie, Mary, Tyler, Corrinne, Allison and Gillian; 9 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet; a brother, Frank Soltis and 3 sisters, Anna Toman, Helen Vogt and Josephine Oshelski.

The Soltis family has entrusted Stephen’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Cambell, Ohio where private services were held Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Stephen was laid to rest next to his wife in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville, Ohio.
