Alina R. Canuto, 98

CAMPBELL…Alina R. Canuto  98,  passed away peacefully , surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at The Pavillion in Canal Fulton, Ohio.

Alina was born October 25, 1926 in Fogo, Cape Verde, a daughter of Pedro Canuto and Maria Rodrigues.

After leaving the Cape Verde Islands, Alina resided in Portugal for 11years before she came to the United States in the early 1960’s.

She worked as a seamstress for Moyers.

Alina was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Angela Merici Parish in Youngstown.

She loved traveling , dancing, and sewing and Alina truly loved spending time with her family.

Alina will be deeply missed and always remembered by her nieces and nephews, Vasco Rodrigues of Columbus, Ohio,  Antonio (Karen) Rodrigues of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Gina (Jim) Gibson of Akron, Ohio, and Jorge Rodrigues of Akron, Ohio; many great nieces and nephews ,great-great nieces and nephews and a great-great-great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Estela Rodrigues; brother-in-law, Vasco Rodrigues Sr.; her nephew, Nelson Rodrigues and her niece, Maria Andrade.

The Rodrigues  family has entrusted Alina’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from, 4-6pm at the funeral home. A Prayer Service will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Angela Merici Parish 397 S. Jackson St. Youngstown, Ohio  44506, officiated by Rev. Tom Kraszewski.

Alina will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
