Angel Gonzalez Figueroa, 62
Campbell … Angel Gonzalez Figueroa, 62, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Angel was born on January 9, 1962, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, the son of Salvador Gonzalez-Aponte and Ramona Figueroa-Flores. He graduated from high school and earned his associate’s degree in Puerto Rico. On December 24, 2009, he married his wife, Gyllian Figueroa. He previously lived in Florida and had been a resident of this area since 2014.
Angel was a caring son, dad, and law enforcement agent. He worked in law enforcement for many years until his retirement in 2012. During his career, he earned first place in several shooting competitions, showcasing his exceptional skills and dedication. He was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish and volunteered with a group of young children at the church. Additionally, he served as a minister at a Catholic church in Puerto Rico a few years back.
Angel enjoyed going to the gun range, listening to and remixing music. He also loved watching movies, especially Batman, Bad Boys, Marvel and DC comics, and others. Angel had a passion for helping others and cared deeply for his community. One of his favorite sayings was, “Whomever doesn’t wanna die, better not be born.”
He had many favorite music artists, including Hector Lavoe, Marc Anthony, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Romeo Santos, and Monchy & Alexandra, among others.
Angel will be deeply missed and always remembered by his wife, Gyllian; his mother, Ramona Figueroa-Flores of Campbell; his children, Angel Gabriel Gonzalez Perez of Youngstown, Ohio, Julio Angel Gonzalez Carasquillo of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Gonzalez Carasquillo of Puerto Rico, Yadiel Gonzalez Figueroa of Warren, Ohio, and Angian Pomales Figueroa of Youngstown, Ohio; five grandchildren; a brother, Edwin Gonzalez Figueroa; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Salvador Gonzalez-Aponte.
The Figueroa Family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends and family Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 5-7pm followed by a prayer service at 6:30pm in the funeral home. Friends and family may also call on Wednesday, July 17,2024 from 9-9:45 am with funeral services to follow at 10am in the Wasko Funeral Home with Phillip Gonzalez officiating.
