Ann M. Simchick, 98
Youngstown…Ann M. (Ruby) Simchick, aka: Grandma Hi-Bum, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Ann was born April 4, 1926, in Youngstown, the daughter of Andrew and Ann (Pachula) Cibulas.
Ann was a 1944 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.
She married the love of her life, Julius Simchick, on August 4, 1945 and they were married until his passing on April 22, 1985.
Ann was a woman of deep faith and a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish. She was involved in various church groups over the years. She was a homemaker, and had worked as a cook at the Sacred Heart Retreat House. Ann loved cooking for her family, especially for the holidays. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and visiting her family in Cincinnati, Wisconsin, and Florida. She also cared for many family members and those in need over the years. As Ann got older, she loved waiting for the mailman to see who sent her updated pictures of their family and friends, which never left the refrigerator or cupboard door. Ann’s last years were at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Boardman where she was known for her snow-white hair and beautiful red lipstick.
Ann will be deeply missed and always remembered by her children, Julius Simchick of Easton, Pennsylvania, Patty Cervello of Boardman, and Gloria (Rodney) Spak of Oldsmar, Florida; 6 grandchildren, Sandra (Chris) Millward, Sharyn (Daniel) Hamm, Al (Kelley) Cervello, Amy Joy Cervello, Ashlee Spak, and Trevor Spak; 10 Great-grandchildren, Madison, Lily, Martin, Lauren, Mason, Breanna, Colby, Cameron, Aidan, and Seth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brothers, Arthur and Joseph Ruby.
The Simchick Family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell. Calling hours will be held Monday, September 16, 2024, 10-10:45am at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish,159 Reed Ave. Campbell, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am officiated by Rev. Thomas Kraszewski.
Ann will be laid to rest at St. John The Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville, Ohio.
