Anna Maillis Obituary

Anna Maillis

Mrs. Anna (Kouros) Maillis passed away quietly in her sleep on March 26, 2025.

She was born on March 15, 1934 on the island of Kalymnos, Greece to her parents Maria (Prassinos) and Father Panteleimon Kouros.

Anna was married to her husband Ilias Maillis on September 9, 1956 and shortly after immigrated to the United States.

Anna was a life-long member of the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, where she was a well-respected member of the choir and Philoptochos society, and where she found her greatest joy and solace due to her deep religious faith and love of God.

Her life was centered around her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; her home was always a welcoming place for the multitude of family and friends that visited “Yiannoula”, as she was affectionally referred to by all that knew and loved her.

Anna will be remembered for many things, but mostly for her warm smile, kind words and prayers that she had for anyone she came into contact with.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband Ilias, parents, brothers Theodore and Emmanuel, sister Irene, son-in-law Nick Frangopoulos, in-laws Maria and Michael Maillis, sister-in-law Nomiki Tsangaris and brother-in-law John Maillis, all of whom she loved dearly and mourned deeply.

Anna will be missed and mourned by her children Michael (Diana) Maillis, Mary Frangopoulos, Harriet (Alan) DiRienzo, Father Panteleimon (Nancy) Maillis, her grandchildren Stelio (Katina) Frangopoulos, Anna (Theodosios) Hazimihalis, Ilias (Sylvia) Frangopoulos, Anna (Michael) Pede, Alan (Anna) DiRienzo, Marianna (Sean) Bailey, Ilias (Megan) Maillis, William Maillis, Alex (Cheyene) Sudacov, Ilias M. Maillis, Anna Maillis, and by her 23 great grandchildren whom she adored. She is survived and mourned by her siblings Sister Filothei Kouros, Efimia Pizanias, Anastasia (Giorgos) Anagnostopoulos and Stamatis (Sophia) Kouros.  In addition, she will be missed and mourned by the dozens of nieces and nephews and cousins throughout the world.

The Maillis family has entrusted Anna’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell. Calling hours will be from 9:00 -11:00 am on Wednesday April 2, 2025, at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, and funeral services will follow at 11am at the church with Father Steve Denas presiding and Anna’s son, Father Panteleimon Maillis assisting.
