Barbara J. Newton, 83

YOUNGSTOWN…Barbara J. Newton, 83 passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Hospice House in Poland, Ohio.

Barbara was born September 28, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of John and Helen (Arnio) Komorosky.

Barbara was a 1960 graduate of South High School and was a lifelong resident of the Youngstown area.

She married the love of her life, William J. Newton on October 1, 1960 and they shared 59 years of marriage until his passing on May 1, 2019.

Barbara worked in retail sales for McKelvey’s, Sears and The Clothes Tree.

She was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church. She was very active in her church and was involved in various activities and projects. She was a member of The Philathea Club, Lydia’s Circle and was a Deaconess at her church. Barbara had previously been on a bowling league.

Barbara enjoyed trips to the casinos, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she also enjoyed painting and drawing.

Barbara will be deeply missed and always remembered by her daughters, Deborah (William) Jupp of Youngstown and Jean (William) Shannon of Campbell; her grandchildren, Ashley (Scott Williams) Jupp, Michael Jupp, William(Melissa) Jupp, Brittany (Joseph Marriotti)Shannon, Vicki (Michael) Glenn, Brianna (Ned Rudloff), Billy (Breanna Walker) Shannon; great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Addison Jupp, Lexi and Connor Glenn, Kato and Jonah Williams, Gabby and Urban Rudloff and Mary Barbara Shannon; sister, Cecelia Kitchen; sister-in-law, Rose Marie (William) Newton-Clay. Barbara is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son William J. Newton Jr. and her sister, Ruth Biel.

The Newton family has entrusted Barbara’s care to The Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, Ohio. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 10am-12noon at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Service at 12noon.

Barbara will be laid to rest at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
