George J. Durkin, 70
YOUNGSTOWN…George J. Durkin, 70 passed away at Hospice of the Valley on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
George was born May 1, 1954 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the son of George C. and Madeline V. Durkin (Mika).
George was a graduate of Ursuline High School. He earned his Bachelor in Business Administration and his MBA from Youngstown State.
While in college, George worked at Strouss’ and U.S. Steel - McDonald. George began a 30 year career of public service as a safety consultant with the Industrial Commission of Ohio. He became a manager with the Bureau of Workers Compensation. Later he did some part-time work with the U.S. Census Bureau.
George was the care-giver for his parents in their later years. He also helped with the care of his aunts, Mrs. Anne Andre and Mrs. Anna May Rennel.
He was a member of St. Christine Church.
George will be deeply missed and always remembered by his brother, Edward J. (Katherine) Durkin of Parma.
The Durkin family has entrusted George’s care to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home in Boardman. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 10-10:45am at St. Christine Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.
George will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
The family thanks the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Hospice of the Valley for their wonderful care.
