Georgina Bezares, 82

YOUNGSTOWN…Georgina Bezares, 82 passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Georgina was born December 9, 1942 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, a daughter of Sotero Solis and Martina Rodriguez-Solis.

She was a resident of the Youngstown area since the early 1955’s. Georgina married the love of her life, Candido Bezares Sr. on January 9, 1960 and they were married until his passing on June 28 2006.

She was of the Catholic Faith.

Georgina worked at General Motors for many years and she previously worked at Penn-Ohio Tile Supply.

Georgina enjoyed cooking, especially pasteles, arroz con gandules and her fried chicken, adored by everyone. She liked listening to Spanish music especially Lilly y Su Gran Trio. She raised birds teaching them to talk and she loved her pet dogs, Blanquita and Nena. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed and always remembered by her children, Candido “Blanquito” Bezares Jr. of Youngstown, Ohio, Eneyda Bezares of Fairfax, Virginia, and William “Willie” Bezares of Youngstown, Ohio; grandchildren, Bianca, CJ, Tiana Bezares and Aletha Vaughn:  great-grandchildren, Irie Bezares and Charles and Octavia Skinner; siblings, Tonio Solis, Margaret (Irving) Caminero, Lucy Stanich, Angelo (Teresa) Solis and Freddy Solis. Rosaliea (Frank) Garcia.

Georgina was preceded in death by her parents, Sotero Solis and Martina Rodriguez-Solis; her husband, Candido Bezares Sr and her brothers, Stevie and Louie Solis and her niece, Helen Santiago.

The Bezares family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 4-6pm at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 6pm.
