Jane Mowery, 96
POLAND… Jane Mowery passed away on April 30, 2026 at her daughter’s home in Poland, Ohio. She was 96.
Jane was born in Campbell, Ohio on April 3, 1930, the eighth of nine children of Joseph and Mary (Haladej) Koly.
Jane graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1948 and went to work for McKelvey’s Department Store in downtown Youngstown. It was there that she met her husband, Robert E. Mowery. They were married on March 26, 1950 and remained married for 63 years until Bob’s passing on April 7, 2013.
Jane took pride in being a homemaker and a mother. She worked at various volunteer jobs, including at North Side Hospital and for Meals on Wheels. She was an avid card player and belonged to several “clubs” that gathered to play rousing games of 500 bid for enormous pots that sometimes reached three or four dollars! Recently, she would comment wryly about the “younger” members that the group had to recruit who were only in their late eighties! Jane was a longtime member and supporter of Struthers Presbyterian (now Parkside) Church where she was at one time on the Board of Deacons.
She leaves behind her four children, Kathy Frangos of Poland, Joan (Jim) Johnston also of Poland, Susan Mowery of Lisbon, and Robert (Gay) Mowery of Boardman. She also leaves two sisters, Alice (Edward, deceased) Noga of Villa Marie, PA and Sonja (Tony, deceased) DiPaolo of St. Louis, MO.; her sister-in-law, Geri Mowery, along with eleven grand-children and twenty-three great-grandchildren (with one on the way).
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, her two brothers, Joseph and John (Ann) Koly, four sisters and their spouses, Martha (Dan) Arsu, Mary (Pat) Colantone, “Brownie” (Sam) Valenzisi, and Margaret (Joe) Hudak and her grandson, Christopher Frangos, as well as brothers-in-law Dick (June) and Don Mowery.
The Mowery family has entrusted Jane’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, Ohio. Per Jane’s request, there will be no calling hours or service locally. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband with a brief service at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. A small gathering will take place for immediate family after the burial.
