JoAnn Lucci Obituary

JoAnn M. Lucci, 72

Campbell…JoAnn M. Lucci, age 72, was received into heaven on Saturday, August 3rd 2024, surrounded by her family.

JoAnn was born August 7th, 1951. Daughter of the late Steven Skavarka and Winifred (Henry) Lisowski. JoAnn grew up in Struthers, Ohio. She graduated from Struthers High School with the class of 1969. After graduation, she worked for several years at GE and Stambaugh Thompson’s. She was a sales representative for Avon, Beeline Fashion and briefly worked for the Fraternal Order of Police collecting donations.

JoAnn moved to Campbell, Ohio to raise a family with Arthur Lucci Sr. and remained there for the majority of her life.

Above all, JoAnn was the most loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Raising her children and grandchildren was her greatest work. Her legacy of love will live on within her children—Sherri Chance (Joe) of Campbell, Andrea (Brian) Wall of Campbell, and Arthur Lucci Jr. (Robin) of Struthers. JoAnn also leaves behind several grandchildren to cherish her memory— Brianna Wall (Vince), Jacob Wall, Hannah Wall (Peyton), Aidan Lucci, and Anthony Lucci. Many nieces, nephews and cousins will also miss her dearly.

Aside from her role as a mother, she also wore the hat of entrepreneur as she co-owned and operated former Sippers Bar and Grille in Campbell. She meticulously managed all aspects of the business and most importantly, fostered a sense of community with many regular patrons and friends.

JoAnn most enjoyed spending time with family, which often meant late night card games around the kitchen table and family dinners. She was notoriously known as the family’s queen of bingo. She loved watching and rooting for her teams The Guardians, OSU Football, and Cleveland Browns. She was delighted by spending time with her furry female family of 2 dogs, Xena and Precious; and 2 cats, Sammy and Cassie.

In her retirement, JoAnn joined residence at Maplecrest Nursing Home. She met and lived with her best friend, Barb. The two spent time watching shows, Door Dashing takeout, and attending resident activities together.

JoAnn will be remembered for her gentle and compassionate spirit and quiet strength. She had a spunky sense of humor that was often rooted in witty sarcasm. She was unafraid to share her opinions, and tell you, “Well in my book…” She especially loved to critique recipes and had the ability to detect hickory flavors in nearly any dish.

Family and Friends may pay respects on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 3-6pm at Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and again on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 10-11am. Funeral services will begin at 11am on Monday. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Lowellville.

The family would like to extend a most heartfelt Thank You; to the staff at Maplecrest Nursing Home, who treated JoAnn with the upmost compassion and respect.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to be made in her name to an animal shelter of your choosing.
