Joseph P. Cuva, 81
CAMPBELL… Joseph P. “Joe” Cuva age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 28, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman. Joe was born September 3, 1943 in Youngstown, Ohio and was a son of Joseph and Anna (Tovarnak) Cuva Sr.
He was a 1961 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and following graduation he enrolled in the Brevard Junior College in Florida for two years where he learned the trade of becoming a Plumber, Pipe Fitter Welder. Following his graduation from trade school, Joe began working for the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 295 in Daytona Beach Florida. His work took him all over the United States. After his time in Florida from 1961-1979 He continued working in his trade in the Youngstown area. In the early 1990’s Joe began working for Youngstown Steel Door, where he remained until his retirement in 2000.
Joe was a parishioner of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown.
He loved to go Camping. In his younger years he enjoyed Bowling, Deer Hunting and Fishing in Florida on the Ocean.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, the former Elaine Colucci whom he married on August 20, 1983. He also leaves his daughters Kimberly Woodall of North Carolina and Joanna Vann of Florida and his son Micheal Pratt of Florida. He also leaves his grandchildren Travis, Matthew, Brandy, Preston, Tatum, Tyler, Micheal Jr., Christopher and Alyssa. His 17 great-grandchildren, his brothers Rocco Cuva of Jupiter, Florida; Mark and Mary Lou Cuva of Tallmadge, Ohio and many nieces and nephews whom he greatly loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David Cuva, his daughter Kelly Cuva and his sister-in-law Carol Cuva.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday December 7, 2024 from 8:30am-9:30am at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, where prayers will be offered at 9:30am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Youngstown, officiated by the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr.
Joe will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.
