Marian Lipinski, 89
BOARDMAN…Marian Lipinski, 89 Passed away peacefully, January 14, 2025 surrounded by her family.
She was born December 4, 1935 a daughter of Metro and Pauline (Yakim) Towarnicky.
She grew up on the west side of Youngtown and graduated from Chaney High School in 1953.
After graduation she worked as a bookkeeper for the Public Finance Co. (Youngstown, OH). At the birth of her first child, Marian then dedicated her life to raising her family.
Her passion for polka dancing led to her meeting the love of her life, John Lipinski at Avon Oaks (Girard, OH) whom she then married in July of 1961.
They lived on the Southside of Youngstown where they raised their family and were very active members of St. Stanislaus Church and School. As a homemaker, her loves were cooking, gardening and sewing. But it was her love for polka music and dance that was her passion, and it was always present. She loved singing in church every weekend, and the radio in the house always had some type of polka music playing. They never missed any of the local polka festivals and traveled across the country making many friends along the way who shared their love for polkas.
After John’s passing in June 2012, she remained in the Walnut Grove Condo (Boardman, OH) development, where she loved to go for her daily neighborhood walks and mingle with her neighbors.
Marian is survived by her three sons: Richard (Donna), Ronald (Melina) and Thomas (Laura). Three grandchildren Keri (Dylon) DeJane, Steven Lipinski and John Lipinski. She also leaves her deeply loved sister Joanne Maruskin and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; her brother Walter “Wally” Towarnicky; her sister-in-law Juanita Towarnicky and her brother-in-law Raymond Maruskin.
The family would like to give special thanks to her Home Instead caregivers (Sarah Peters and Donna Glass) who became part of the family and treated her like she was their own mother. Also, to the members of Patriot at Home and The Inn at Poland Way who took care of her in her final days with extreme care, compassion, and love.
The Lipinski family has entrusted Marian’s care to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home in Boardman, where calling hours will be held on Friday January 17, 2025 from 5-7pm. Family and friends may call again on Saturday January 18, 2025 from 10-10:45 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, St. Charles Roman Catholic Church in Boardman. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow in the church at 11am with Rev. Brian Cline, officiating.
Marian will be laid to rest beside her husband at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
