YOUNGSTOWN - Martha “Marty” Evans, 91, of Boardman, Ohio, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to family.
Marty was born on June 16, 1934, in Campbell, Ohio, the eldest of three children of Andrew and Lillian Hudach. She was a proud graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, Class of 1952.
On January 20, 1968, Marty married Ted Evans, with whom she shared many loving years until his passing on November 6, 1998.
An accomplished businesswoman, Marty was among the first women to serve as a sales associate for Chrysler Corporation before opening her own antique shop, Martha’s Vineyard—a lifelong passion reflected throughout her home, which for more than 40 years was a welcoming gathering place for family and friends. In her later years, she remained active working at Burlington Coat Factory, where she formed close friendships with her beloved “girls” that endured for decades. She also generously gave her time through volunteer work with Visiting Angels.
Marty worked hard and played hard. The life of the party, her unmistakable laugh could often be heard rising above the lively card games and dinner parties she so loved to host, where everyone was welcomed with open arms. In her later years, she was an avid reader and puzzler, a devoted cook, bird-watcher, and enthusiastic Dancing with the Stars aficionado. She lived for her family and cherished nothing more than a full house of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Marty’s legacy lives on through her children, Michael Lunich and Rona (Lunich) Matteo; siblings, sister, Patricia Repasky and brother, Ronald Hudach; grandchildren, Nicholah (Scott) Saintsing, Marina (Scott) Christopher, and Jami Cefalde and five great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and lifelong friend, Michael Lunich, stepson, Rodney Evans, her sister-in-law, Nancy Hudach, and most recently, her brother-in-law, Jack Repasky.
A celebration of life will be announced by the family.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Kubina-Yuhasz Funeral Home.
