Mary Ann Sargent, 75

NEW MIDDLETOWN…Mary Ann Sargent, 75 passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025 at her home.

Mary Ann was born October 8, 1949 in Youngstown, Ohio, and was raised in Campbell, Ohio.

She was the beloved daughter of Louis and Theresa (Roguski) Orbin.

She was a 1967 graduate of Ursuline High School and graduated in 1972 from Choffin as a licensed practical nurse.

Mary Ann was married to Sam M. Sargent on August 12, 1972, until his accidental passing on December 20, 1980.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

She enjoyed worshipping with her family at Church of the Rock, in Poland.

Mary Ann worked as a nurse at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital for many years. She then worked for many local area doctors and she worked for CCA for 6 years.

Two years ago, she retired from Southwoods Medical, compounding allergy medications for her patients.

Mary Ann enjoyed flower gardening, watching the birds in her backyard, crafts and making Halloween costumes for her children, as well as various plays and other activities. Christmas was her favorite time of year where she used her artistic talents in decorating her home as well as the church she attended for several types of events. 

She enjoyed baking and cherished family gatherings, and found great joy in playing worship music with her family.  She also delighted in tennis, dancing, roller skating, photography, and treasured family vacations in Florida.

She loved spending time with her brother, Lou and sister-in-law, Marijo, her three sons Ryan, Sam, and Justin and their families as well as other family members. Her children and grandchildren were most treasured by her.

Mary Ann will be deeply missed and always remembered by her former husband and current companion, David Robert Sargent; her children, Ryan (Fiancée Christina) Sargent of Struthers, Sam (Julie) Sargent of Campbell and Justin (Liz) Sargent of Poland; her brother, Lou (Marijo) Orbin; eleven grandchildren, Tanner (Hannah) Sargent, Sydney(Fiancé Jesse) Sargent, Sam Sargent, McKenna Sargent , Emily Sargent, Marshall Sargent, Caleb Sargent, Lauren Sargent, Zak Sargent, Lily Sargent, and Allison Sargent; five great-grandchildren, Alek, Gunner, Brantley, Baker and Avery along with many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved.

Calling hours for friends and family will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 5-7pm and Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 10-10:45am followed by a funeral service at 11am officiated by Pastor Reid Lamport. All will be held at Church of the Rock, 7025 Luteran Lane, Poland, Ohio 44514.

Mary Ann will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville, Ohio. The Sargent family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Wasko Funeral Home for the compassionate care given to Mary Ann.
