Nikolaos “Nick” Mastronikolas, 76

CAMPBELL… Nikolaos “Nick” Mastronikolas, age 76, passed away on Saturday June 15, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. He was born February 15, 1948 in Kalymnos, Greece and was a son of Ioannis and Kalotina (Kouraou) Mastronikolas.

While in Greece Nick served in the military and began working in construction. He was very talented and even in his later years he continued to help family and friends with various household  projects.

Nick came to the Campbell area from Greece in 1977. In the United States he began his career as an Industrial Painter having worked for several painting companies including Corcon and Master Painting where he painted high tension electrical towers.

Nick enjoyed cooking Fila and other traditional Greek dishes for his family, cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, frequenting local area flea markets, and driving around to visit with family and friends. He also enjoyed attending and volunteering at all of the area Greek Festivals each year.

His wife the former Sylvia Psaras, whom he married May 9, 1976 in Kalymnos, Greece; passed away July 13, 2014.

Nick is survived by his loving children, his daughter Joanna Sarianopoulos of Campbell, his sons Yianni Mastronikolas of Campbell and Skevo (Amanda) Mastronikolas of Campbell. He also leaves his grandchildren Alexi, Nik, Ellianna, Luka, Maggie, Colton, Dylan, and Lindy who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother Mike Mastronikolas and sister Kaliope Sarakis; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins in Greece.

Besides his parents and wife, Nick was preceded in death by his brothers Giorgio and Michali Mastronikolas.

The Mastronikolas family has entrusted Nick’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell. Calling hours will be held on Friday June 21, 2024 from 10-11am in Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral services will follow in the church at 11am with Fr. Steve Denas, officiating.

Nick will be laid to rest at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Cemetery.
