Patricia Hannis, 84

POLAND… Patricia “Patty” Hannis, age 84, passed away peacefully Saturday July 20, 2024 at the Inn at Poland Way. She was born November 27, 1939 in Youngstown, Ohio and was a daughter of Stephen and Katherine (Hudak) Petretic.

Patty was a 1957 Graduate of East High School and was a lifelong area resident.

Prior to motherhood, Patty was the First Deputy Clerk of Council for the City of Youngstown City Council from 1959-1963. She was a stay-at-home mother while she raised her daughter, then worked in office positions until her retirement from Automatic Sprinkler of Boardman.

Patty married her husband Robert Hannis on May 5, 1962 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his passing on May 10, 2024.

She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish St. Matthias Church.

Patty was known for her unwavering love and devotion to her husband Bob and for being a loving mom and grandma. She had a warm but feisty personality. She was quick to laugh and was very thoughtful and caring. Patty will be remembered as an excellent cook and baker and many times shared her baked goods with others.

Patty is survived by her daughter Renee (John) Kachaylo of Pittsburgh, PA., her grandchildren, Zachary (Fiancé Paige Miller) Kachaylo of Charlotte, NC and Amanda (Fiancé Andrew Orr) Kachaylo of Pittsburgh, Pa. She also leaves her sisters Bernice Irons of Florida and Carol (Jerry) Bragalone of Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, and her sister Stephanie DeLuca.

The Kachaylo family wants to warmly express their gratitude and appreciation to the caregivers at The Inn at Poland Way and to Ohio Living Hospice for the genuine acts of kindness and comfort they extended to Patty.

The family has entrusted Patty’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell. Family and friends may call on Thursday July 25, 2024 from 10-10:45am at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, St. Matthias Church, 915 Cornell Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44502. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11am in the church with Fr. Stephen Ziegler, officiating.

Patty will be laid to rest beside her husband Bob at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.
