Philip Eldon Mingo, 76
Philip Eldon Mingo, 76, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Philip was born July 15, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Alex Mingo and Carmel Brizzi.
He was a member of the 1965 graduating class of Campbell Memorial High School. (Go Red Devils!) He furthered his studies at Youngstown State University before exploring work as a med tech and employment at General Fireproofing.
A lifelong lover of animals and all things nature, Philip earned the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America, the Eagle Scout, which only four percent of Scouts have earned. He also volunteered for the Brain Injury Association of Ohio for many years and was a proud member of Kiwanis International.
Philip was passionate about many things, including caring for his cats, fishing, gardening, exploring the Allegheny mountains, Mill Creek Park conservation efforts, local sports, and keeping up with his grandchildren’s athletic events and academic achievements.
Philip will be deeply missed by his sister Kathleen (Kenny) Mingo Boyd; three children, Matthew (Michelle) Mingo, Mark (Maria) Mingo, and Laura (John) Mogulich; plus 7 grandchildren: Anthony, Ryan, Christopher, Gianna, Vera, Vinny, and Michael.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Carmel Mingo and his brother Randy Mingo.
The Mingo family wants to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses of Hospice and extra special appreciation to Mary Rennie for being a compassionate caretaker. Philip also wished to extend his deepest gratitude to his former wife, Doris Mancini, for her unwavering dedication to raising their children.
The Mingo Family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Wasko Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at The Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, 401 12th Street in Campbell. The funeral services will follow.
