Santuccio "Sandy" Monaco Obituary

Santuccio (Sandy) Monaco, 93

Naples, FL…Santuccio (Sandy) Monaco, born December 11,1930 in Campbell, Ohio passed away at the age of 93, on February 19, 2024, in Naples, Florida, where he resided since retiring in the 1990’s.

Sandy graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1948 as a National Honor Society member and class Vice President. Following high school he graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree with honors from Youngstown College in 1952. Sandy served in active duty in the US Army from May 1953 until May 1955, and then served in the Army reserves for 6 additional years. He rose to the rank of Corporal and received the National Defense Service Medal. He then spent his career with Westinghouse in numerous locations in the United States.

Sandy was an avid restaurant patron. He was known by most servers and workers in the fine Naples restaurants and was greeted by name. Sandy’s passing to eternal life is a celebration of his life because of the imprint he left on those who crossed his path. He never married and his love was his devotion to God. He attended daily mass and prayed the rosary religiously. Sandy’s closest friends were of the same cloth, and will miss their friend who had a keen intellect and was a great conversationalist. Above all, Sandy was a kind person that people gravitated to. After daily mass, Sandy would always join a group of church friends at the Panera in Naples where he would indulge in a bear claw pastry and a caffe latte. Sandy enjoyed visiting his family in Campbell and Hubbard, OH every summer where he enjoyed driving his 1977 Corvette.

Sandy is survived by his niece, Denise (John) Masters and nephew, James Carsone Jr., both of Hubbard, OH; great-niece, Lauren (Danté) DiLorenzo of Hubbard, OH and great-nephew, Johnny (Jessica) Masters of Boardman, OH; a great-great-nephew, JJ Masters and three great-great-nieces, Leia & Veda DiLorenzo and Julianna Masters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Mary (Parisi) Monaco; his sister Geraldine (Monaco) Carsone and brother-in-law James Carsone Sr.

Sandy may have passed from this world but he will never be forgotten because his life will always be celebrated by those who loved him. The family and friends extend their thanks to the staff at The Moorings and Avow Hospice for their most compassionate care of Sandy. They also extend their gratitude to his friend and Driver Sam, who drove Sandy to mass during his later years. A special thanks to his Guardian Angel, Vince Campanella who cared for all of Sandy’s needs and Maryann Bencic for spending time at his bedside in his final days.

Sandy’s family has entrusted his funeral arrangements to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, and will receive family and friends on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 10-11:00 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish (159 Reed Ave., Campbell, OH  44405).  A Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev.
