Stella Makris, 91 

Campbell… Stella Makris, 91, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Masternick Memorial with her family by her side. 

Stella was born November 17, 1932, in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Michael and Constantina (Kritikou) Paul.  She was a graduate of the Rayen High School, class of 1951. 

She worked for her father’s business, the Clover Leaf Dairy in Youngstown, then later worked at her father’s restaurant, the Dutch House, also in Youngstown.  When Stella married, she became a homemaker to raise her children and take care of her family. 

She was of the Greek Orthodox faith. 

Stella enjoyed bingo, playing cards, gambling and spending time with her many grandchildren.  

Her husband, Isidore Makris; whom she married December 25, 1955, in Greece; passed away May 8, 2004. 

Stella will be deeply missed and always remembered by her daughters, Maria (George) Savakis of Merrit Island, Florida and Dina Hodnicky of Cortland; her grandchildren, Hercules Savakis, Stella Balzli, Michael Savakis, Sylvia Bittner, Maria Orr, Richard Hodnicky, and Nicholas Hodnicky; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isidore; her brother, Peter Paul; and her infant son’s, Angelo Makris and Michael Makris. 

The Makris family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, from 10-11:00 a.m. at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church.  Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Steve Denas and Rev. Tom Constantine will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.
