Edward was born June 22, 1932, in Campbell, the son of Anthony and Julianna Kenczel Letoha.

He was very well educated and loved the Latin language.  He was a former priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Massillon and was a school teacher for almost 50 years.

Edward was also a former member of St. Stephen of Hungary Church.

He was an extremely spiritual person and dedicated to his faith.  He always helped others and donated to hundreds of charities.  Edward was an avid reader, great at couponing, sports fanatic and especially loved cheering on anything Ohio State, Arizona State, or the Phoenix Suns.   He loved western movies and books; and making people laugh.

Above all, Edward, also affectionately known as Pops, Pop, Eddie, Ed, Edward, Mr. Lenton, and Father Lenton, was a devoted husband, teacher and grandfather, who loved his family, friends, and his animals.  He had many dogs, including 3 great Pyrenese, named Charlemagne (Big Boy), and a double yellow headed Amazon Parrot named Quito.

Edward will always be remembered as a respectful, considerate, polite, charming, gruff, stubborn, difficult, intelligent, funny character.

His wife and the love of his life, the former Joanne Howell (Hatjes) Lenton, whom he married May 23, 1979; passed away April 22, 2001.

Edward will be deeply missed by his sisters, Gerrie Manosky, Eleanor Novak, Dolly Zackasee, Valerie Lenton, and Margaret Lenton; his brothers, Bob Lenton, John Lenton, Bernard Lenton and Alfred Letoha; step-sons, George Hatjes, Gust Hatjes, Mike Hatjes, and Joey Hatjes; his step-daughter, Deborah Hatjes; his granddaughter, Heather Burner, grandson, JJ Gibson, granddaughter, Mary Jo Favela, grandson, Josh Gibson,  granddaughter, Aubrey Gibson; ten other grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

We love you Pops. Hope you’re happy and at peace with Jesus and Bebop and all your loved ones. We will miss you until we meet again.

The Lenton family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Saturday morning from 10-11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service.
