Raymond Novak Obituary

Youngstown –

Raymond E. Novak, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, May 16,2026,  with his loving family by his side.

He was born on February 16, 1945, in Youngstown, a son of the late Stephen and Mary Baytos Novak. After attending St. Matthias School, Raymond graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1963 and continued his education at Youngstown State University.

He worked for the Youngstown Water Department as a foreman in the meter department and retired after 35 years of dedicated service. Raymond was a lifelong member of St. Matthias Church, where he sang in the choir, was a dedicated member and chaplain of  the Holy Name Society and led monthly rosary services.

He was also active in Knights of Columbus Poland Council #4471, and he loved bowling, post-retirement golfing, in the Wednesday Travel and Lowellville Travel leagues. And above all, spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. His faith guided every aspect of his life.

Raymond leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Marianne Novak and Stacey Novak (Stephen Gilmartin); his grandchildren, Kinley Novak, Bradilyn Novak, Jaycek Novak, and Isabella Gilmartin;  Mary Lou Jacobs, his devoted and beloved partner of 23 years; Jack his right-hand man; and his favorite niece, Jeannie, and his former wife, Doris J. Novak.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jonah Rayden Novak; his brother, Stephen Novak; and his sister, Louise Granchie.
