BOARDMAN—With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darlene Gaal, who passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, May 28, 2026, at the age of 77. She was born on September 22, 1948, to the late Joseph and Margaret Radovich.
Darlene was a graduate of Boardman High School. She married the love of her life, Gilbert Gaal, and together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2015. Darlene spent her career working at Packard Electric before retiring.
She was an avid reader. Darlene cherished the many friendships she made throughout her life, including those from work and the car club she and Gilbert enjoyed together. They loved dining out with friends and attending car shows featuring Gilbert’s cherished 1947 Dodge.
Darlene was the kindest and most generous person. She made birthdays and Christmases special for her son, nephew, niece, godchildren, grandchildren, and many dear friends. If she knew someone was in need, she would go out of her way to help in any way she could. Her thoughtfulness, compassion, and selfless spirit touched countless lives and will be deeply missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Joseph (Jennifer) Gaal; her sister, JoAnn (Dan) Coyne; her beloved grandchildren, Macenzee, Eric, Danica, and Conor; her niece, Becky Clinton; and her dear friend, Nancy Minkler.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Gaal, and her nephew, Andy Coyne.
Family and friends may call Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 11:00 am to noon at Kubina-Yuhasz Funeral Home.
Darlene will be laid to rest next to her husband Gilbert on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Lake Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, OH 44406, in Darlene’s memory.
